More than just a coffee
As a woman with a mobile business, many of my meetings are conducted over a coffee. As I noticed more and more people doing the same, it got me thinking that there’s more to the humble cup of coffee than just a morning caffeine hit.
Most of us drink it, some of us can’t live without it - either way, coffee has invaded our lives in a way we couldn’t have imagined fifteen years ago. No longer is coffee simply shared over the breakfast table. We drink it at home, at work, in the car and do business over a hot cup.
Where once cafes were the domain of hip uni students and people stopping for a coffee while running errands, they are increasingly becoming a hive of commercial activity. The ‘Coffice’ as it has been dubbed is the latest in out of office meeting locations. According to this article in the Sydney Morning Herald, ‘A cafe is also the perfect meeting place for those who don't have space in their own office, or for people looking for an environment that is more relaxed than a boardroom.’
So if you’re thinking of heading to your local Cibo for your next business meeting, just remember a couple of important rules of coffice etiquette - order something, after all, cafes are in the business of making money too. Also, don’t impose on other patrons by rearranging furniture or taking over a small space. And finally, be aware that your business is not necessarily anyone else’s, so be mindful if discussing confidential or sensitive content - you never know who is sitting at the next table.
But if coffee on the run is more your thing, or you’re a busy mum who always ends up with a cold coffee, we’ve found the perfect way to keep your coffee hot when your on the go. Coffee Joulies are overgrown stainless steel ‘beans’ that you slip in your hot coffee to keep it at a more constant temperature for longer. No longer will you burn your lip on your morning coffee, only to wait too long for it to cool, leaving you with a lukewarm cup of java. They simply absorb the initial heat from the coffee and release it as the coffee cools. The brainchild of a couple of mates, Coffee Joulies are the kind of innovation the team at Every Day PA just love.
